Lesson 3.1: Birthday & Wedding Invitations

Invitations are one of the most popular digital products to create and sell because everyone needs them for special events. In this lesson, we’ll design two different types of invitations that are always in demand.

How to Design a Birthday Card

  1. Start a New Design: From the Canva home screen, tap the plus (+) button and search for Birthday Invitation.

  2. Choose a Free Template: Look through the options and pick a template that you like that does not have a crown icon. Tap on it to open it.

  3. Customize the Text: Tap on the text boxes to change the name, date, time, location, and RSVP details. Use the skills you learned in Lesson 2.3 to change the font or text size if you want.

  4. Change the Photos/Elements: If the template has a photo, tap it and use the Replace button to add your own. You can also add more elements like a party hat or balloons by tapping the plus (+) button and searching in the Elements tab.

How to Design a Wedding Invitation

The process is very similar to designing a birthday card, but you’ll use a more formal template.

  1. Start a New Design: Tap the plus (+) button and search for Wedding Invitation.

  2. Choose a Free Template: Select a free template that has a classy or elegant style.

  3. Customize with Details: Change the names of the couple, the date, the time, and the venue. Pay attention to the font style to make sure it looks formal and beautiful.

Congratulations! You have now created your first two sellable products. In the next lesson, we’ll learn how to create a different kind of product: printable calendars and planners.
