Using Canva Mobile App To Make Money (with Mwalimu Mkuu)

Alright, let’s wrap up this module with a very important skill: creating a brand identity. In this lesson, we’ll design a logo and a business card. These are essential for any business and are high-demand products you can sell.

Lesson 3.4: Logo & Business Card Design

A logo is the face of a business. It’s a small symbol that helps customers recognize a brand instantly. A business card is a classic way to share your contact information and make a professional impression. Designing these two items together helps a business look polished and trustworthy.

The Opportunity

Every new business, big or small, needs a logo and business card. Many people who sell things on social media don’t have a professional look, and you can solve that problem for them. By selling them a simple logo and a business card design, you are helping them look more credible, and you are providing a very valuable service.

Creating a Simple Logo

  1. Start a New Design: From the Canva home screen, tap the plus (+) button and search for logo.

  2. Choose a Free Template: Look for a free logo template that has a simple, clean design. Logos with text and a simple icon are a great place to start.

  3. Make It a Reusable Template: Just like with your other products, create a template you can reuse.

    • Change the main text to a placeholder like [Business Name].

    • Change the tagline (if there is one) to [Tagline].

  4. Add a Simple Icon: The best logos have a clear icon. You can find many in the Elements tab. For a food business, you could search for kitchen icon or fruit icon. For a consulting business, you could search for lightbulb or gears. Remember to avoid the crown icons.

  5. Change Colors: Change the colors of the icon and text to match your future customer’s business.

Designing a Business Card

A business card should be simple and clear. Its main job is to provide contact information.

  1. Start a New Design: Go back to the Canva home screen, tap the plus (+) button, and search for business card.

  2. Pick a Template: Find a free template that is clean and professional. It should have a front and a back.

  3. Add Placeholders:

    • Front of the card: Add placeholders for [Name], [Title], and the [Logo] you just designed.

    • Back of the card: Add placeholders for [Phone Number], [Email Address], and [Social Media Handle].

You have now completed Module 3! You have a portfolio of products you can sell, including invitations, planners, labels, and now logos and business cards.

Are you ready to move on to Module 4, where you will learn how to get your products out into the world and find your first customers?
